Delhi School of Economics (DSE) Admission

For PG admissions, 50% of total seats will be filled on the basis of merit in their qualifying examination for students who completed their bachelor’s degrees at Delhi University, while the remaining 50% of seats will be given based on CUET PG results. The Delhi School of Economics additionally reserves 50% of the total seats for ST/SC/OBC/EWS/PwD applicants. Examine DSE Courses and Fees.

UG Admissions

DSE provides two undergraduate programs for three years, namely B.A (Hons.) in Economics and B.A Program. Students seeking admission to DSE B.A (Hons.) in Economics must have a 10+2 grade point average of 60%. Candidates must have a minimum of 40% in aggregate from a recognized board of education in order to pursue the DSE B.A Program. The ultimate selection will be based on CUET scores, followed by an e-counselling process.

UG Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates for DSE B.A (Hons.) Economics must have 60% in 10+2 from a recognized board.
• Candidates must have completed a 10+2 level with at least 40% marks in aggregate from a recognized board of education in order to pursue the DSE B.A Program. 

UG Selection Process

For admission to the UG program, Delhi School of Economics accepts Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores. The ultimate decision will be made through the e-counseling method.

• The CUET is divided into three sections: the first is for language, the second is for ‘Domain-Specific Topics,’ and the third is for General Knowledge, which is only necessary for admission to the BA degree.
• Students must present in at least one of the 33 accessible languages.
• For the second segment, candidates must choose at least three courses from their class 12th as domain-specific topics. The CUET can be taken in a maximum of six disciplines, one of which must be a language. Check out the CUET 2023 Exam Pattern.
• Candidates for B.A (Hons.) Economics must take a Mathematics test at CUET. The acquired score will be calculated using the marks gained in language, mathematics, and the other two subjects. 
• For the BA program, candidates must take the admission exam in any one language from section one and any three courses from section two. Merit will be determined based on the candidate’s performance in the same subject and language.

Admission through Sports and Extracurricular Activities (ECA): Candidates must take the performance test in addition to the CUET. The combined CUET (25%) and performance test (75%) scores will be used to make the selection. Certificates, in addition to the CUET score, will be evaluated.

UG Application Process

Candidates must register by visiting the NTA’s official website. Students must first register on the DU admission portal in order to participate in the e-counselling process. The following steps will assist you in applying for the DSE UG course:

 MBA Eligibility

• A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% overall.
• Relaxation of eligibility requirements for students from the reserved categories in accordance with university policies.
• A valid CAT score is required. 

MBA Selection Criteria

Admission to the MBA program is done in three stages::

• Meeting eligibility criteria
• Shortlisting Criteria for GD-PI-Extempore
• Final Admission Selection criteria

Candidates must submit their CAT results. A minimum CAT percentile score of 90+ will be required for shortlisting. Following that, candidates who have been short-listed based on their CAT percentile will be summoned for a GD, Extempore, and Personal Interview.

At the postgraduate level, DSE provides an MA in Economics. The course is two years long. Admission is made either directly/meritoriously or through an admission exam.

MA (Economics) Eligibility

• Direct/Merit Mode: BA (Hons) Economics degree from DU with at least 60% aggregate marks.
• Admission Mode: UG/PG degree from DU with at least 605 aggregate or first division or equivalent marks. CGP.

MA (Economics) Selection Criteria

• The candidate’s performance in the previous qualifying exam and entrance exam is used to determine admission to the programme.
• Merit seats are only available to students who have passed the admission exam.
• The entrance exam will include objective type questions, with negative marking for incorrect responses.
• Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of microeconomic theory, macroeconomic theory, mathematical procedures and probability, statistics, and basic econometrics.
• To qualify for MA Economics, students must obtain 40% (General Category), 36% (OBC), and 20% (SC/ST) on the admission test.
• Separate merit lists will be published for the reserved and general categories for admission via the Entrance Test and Direct Admissions.
• Admission to the course will be provisional and will be confirmed by the University’s Admission Committee only after the original certificates are verified.

M.Phil/PhD (Economics) Admission

The Delhi School of Economics serves as a research center for Delhi University, offering the following PhD and M.Phil programs in Economics.

M.Phil/Ph.D. Selection Criteria

• The entrance exam determines admission to M.Phil and PhD programs.

• Candidates who have passed a national level examination such as the CSIR/UGC-NET (including JRF), DBT-JRF, ICMR-JRF, or DST-INSPIRE may be interviewed without taking the departmental entrance test.

Common Seat Allocation System Admission Process

For admission to UG programmes at all of its affiliated colleges, Delhi University has implemented the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS). The full procedure is outlined below:

Phase 1: CSAS Application Form

• Candidates must fill out the CSAS application form on the centralized admission portal and pay a one-time non-refundable application cost. 
• ECA and sports quota candidates must pay an extra price.

Phase 2: Selection of Courses and College Preferences

• The second round will begin after the CUET examination results are announced.
• Following the announcement of the CUET results, qualified candidates must select courses and fill up their college preferences on the centralized CSAS portal.

Phase 3: Seat Allocation and Final Admission

• The merit list will be announced based on CUET scores.
• There will be multiple rounds for the seat allocation.
• Candidates must check the CSAS dashboard to see if they have been assigned a seat. If a seat is assigned, candidates must accept it on or before the date specified for that round.
• Seat distribution will be determined by a number of factors, including the combination of college and program chosen, the candidate’s place on the merit list, the candidate’s category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/UR), and the availability of seats.
• After receiving payment for the seat, the university will assess eligibility, verify papers, and confirm admission.

Cutoff

The DU CSAS portal will soon be updated with the 2023 Delhi School of Economics cutoff or seat allotment for UG degrees. To confirm their seats, selected candidates or those who have been given seats in any of the CSAS rounds must pay the entrance fee and provide the relevant papers.
