On each IIM’s website, the level of selection will be made explicit. Each IIM will send interview letters directly to the shortlisted candidates. The criteria used for shortlisting applicants vary among IIMs. Visit the entrance websites of the various IIMs for more details.
Entrance Process
Please be aware that IIMs independently determine their own criteria for shortlisting applicants for the interview round. Written Ability Tests (WAT), Group Discussions (GD), and Personal Interviews (PI) are possible steps in the process. The Common Admission Test (CAT) exam result is a crucial component of the admissions process. IIMs may also take into account additional variables, such as a candidate’s prior academic performance and relevant job.
At several phases of the admissions process, candidates are ranked and shortlisted based on their experiences, academic backgrounds, and other similarities. Across IIMs, there may be differences in the procedures, academic cutoffs, and weights given to the evaluation metrics. Refer to the admissions policies of the various IIMs on their separate websites for further details.
Verification Of Eligibility
Any applicant who is selected by an IIM for an interview must follow the following guidelines for eligibility verification.
Grade Reports and a Diploma
An applicant must provide all of their mark sheets, along with verified copies, to prove their eligibility at the time of the interview. The original degree certificate and all semester/year-level mark sheets, as well as their attested copies, must be presented for verification at the time of enrolling in the program if a candidate is accepted into it. In addition to the submission requirements listed in the “Marksheets and Degree Certificate” section, SC, ST, NC-OBC, EWS, and PWD candidates must present the original caste/class and/or disability certificate and candidates have to submit a photocopy at the time of the interview.
Candidates in the Final Year of Graduation
The principal, registrar, or director of the university or institution must sign an original certificate attesting that the candidate received 50% or equivalent (45% in the case of candidates from the SC, ST, and PwD categories) based on the most recent grades or marks if they are chosen for an interview for the final bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification examination. He or she must bring an authenticated copy of the original certificate to the interview. If chosen, these candidates will be permitted to enroll in the Post Graduate Programs at the IIMs. Only if they submit a certificate from the principal or registrar of their university or institution, issued on or before the date specified, in order to join the program PROVISIONALLY.
The candidate has satisfied all requirements (the outcomes may, however, still be pending) for getting the Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification by the time the certificate is issued. Their admittance won’t be verified unless they provide the original mark sheet and qualifying degree certificate demonstrating that they have acquired a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification as stated in the certificate issued by the Principal/Registrar of their University/Institution. They must obtain the equivalent of 50% or more of the available points (45% for applicants who are SC, ST, or PWD). They must also provide a certified copy of their transcripts and proof of their qualifying degree.
