Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India

Established in 1983, EDII is an autonomous, non-profit organization promoted by apex financial institutions—IDBI Bank, IFCI, ICICI Bank, and the State Bank of India—with support from the Government of Gujarat. It was founded on the belief that entrepreneurs are not just born, but can be created through systematic training and interventions. Recognized as a "Centre of Excellence" by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Government of India), the institute focuses on turning entrepreneurship into a viable career path and development tool.

EDII operates as a national resource hub with a multi-faceted approach:

• Education: It offers specialized academic programs, including a two-year Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Business Entrepreneurship) and a doctoral-level Fellow Programme in Management.
• Training and Research: The institute conducts entrepreneurship development programs (EDPs), designs training modules for trainers, and leads major research studies, including the India chapter of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM).
• Project Implementation: EDII works extensively with government ministries and corporate CSR partners to implement mega-projects, promote MSME growth, support handicraft clusters, and drive village-level entrepreneurship.

Beyond classroom learning, EDII fosters a hands-on entrepreneurial ecosystem. It hosts CrAdLE (Centre for Advancing and Launching Enterprises), a technology business incubator supported by the Department of Science and Technology (Govt. of India), which provides start-ups with infrastructure, mentoring, and support in areas like agri-business, healthcare, and renewable energy. The campus acts as a hub for innovation, offering students access to expert mentors, industry networks, and experiential learning opportunities to transform business ideas into sustainable ventures.
