Course admission in Manipal University is mainly merit-based. It has 542 UG and PG-level courses. BBA and B.Sc are the courses available in the college for opposite sports students. and MBA/PGDM. Admission Process

MAHE (Manipal Academy of Higher Education) has started accepting applications for a range of undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), diploma, and PhD level programs. The university has a wide array of courses in many domains such as Medicine, Engineering, Science, Humanities, Social Sciences, Management, etc.

Programs at MAHE are either assigned on the basis of merit or awarded based on sitting an entrance exam, you will either have the option of a course. Some courses have no entry requirements and accept students on academic merit only, while others contain entrance examinations that candidates must pass. Application for admission is done entirely via the web meaning interested students can apply from any location anytime.

How to Apply to MAHE: The Procedure

In the year 2024, the admission process at Manipal Academy of Higher Education will be based on the Manipal entrance test (MET) for some courses, on some national level entrance exams including the MET, or merit based on scores achieved in the admission examination, depending on the course. The MET, which is an internal examination of the university, is a requirement for courses like BTech, while other courses require students to take national-level examinations including NEET, JEE Main, CAT, and so on.

Academic Peculiarity: To apply, a candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution. The area of study determines the actual eligibility criteria for every PG program. For example, a person applying for an MBA does not need to have completed an undergraduate degree in business, whereas a person seeking an MSc degree is expected to have a bachelor’s degree in a related field of science. 

Minimum Marks: An overall minimum mark percentage in the undergraduate degree is generally needed, with that of the degree course under the 50% to 60% range being prevalent. 

Entrance Exam: Most of the PG programs have a selection process that includes specific entrance examinations at different levels. For example, MBA programs demand an applicant’s score in any of the two examinations CAT, MAT, or GMAT which are at the national level called CAT, MAT and GMAT. Other programs may also incorporate the Met scores or relevant test scores like the score obtained from the Test of English as a Foreign Language and other standard tests. 

Selection Process: After completing the eligibility criteria prescribed, the selection process commences. In the case of entrance-based programs, candidates are selected on the basis of examination scores or ranks. In some other cases, there may be additional rounds conducted like group discussions interviews, or counseling for the purpose of finalizing the admissions. Such programs, which are merit-based, do not have any other considerations except for academic performance in the qualifying examinations.

The admission process for Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal is inclusive of an application form filling, appearing in any selection rounds, and a counseling process. A step-by-step admission process at Manipal University is described below.

Step 1: Manipal University Application Process

The first step of the admission process is to complete and submit an application. This contains the relevant information for a prospective student, usually filled out on the Manipal University’s applicable portal. Qualifying students may fill in an application form of their liking and attach a non – refundable fee of 600 Indian Rupees per application. Besides that and to sit for the MET exam, interested candidates are also required to fill in an entrance examination form paying a one thousand and four hundred Indian Rupees entrance fee.

Step 2: Manipal University Other Selection Rounds

For admission into various Manipal University courses, criteria such as merit and entrance tests are used. Merit order reflects entrance requirements wherein a candidate is able to gain admission without taking MET or other national examinations. Depending on the courses pursued, other selection processes such as the GDPI, are done. Others also have a selection test done by the respective faculties at their level. However, a few programs have no such requirements and offer admission strictly based on the merit of the candidate in the last qualifying examination. That’s after candidates have been successfully listed during the counseling process.

Step 3: Manipal University Counseling Process/ Merit Release

The university considers the results of the relevant entrance examinations candidates’ performance in previous academic years and the outcome of other selection processes and makes a merit list. Moreover, given superior scores and qualifications, direct admissions are carried out through a tendering process also known as counseling where candidates are ranked according to the scores they obtained in the last drawn scorecard.

Step 4: Provisional Admission Notice

A provisional admission notice will be issued to qualifying candidates upon the release of the merit list.
