Anna institution is a public institution in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It is designated by the UGC as a “University with Potential for Excellence” (UPE) and is accredited by the NAAC with a ‘A’ grade. According to the NIRF 2023 rankings, Anna University is the 18th best university in India to study at. On its campus, Anna University provides 29 UG, 90 PG, and Doctorate level courses through 8 faculties and over 30 departments. Furthermore, it provides over 100 Degree and Diploma courses through its 593 affiliated colleges, which have over 7.2 lakh students enrolled. 

Anna University, in addition to full-time conventional courses, offers distance learning courses through its Centre for Distance Education. Anna University is well-known for offering B.E/B.Tech, B.Arch, M.Tech, and MBA programs. However, Anna University has an acceptance rate of roughly 29% because only top-scoring candidates in entrance tests are admitted. TANCET, CEETA PG, TNEA, NATA, UGC NET, and CSIR NET are some of the entrance exams that Anna University recognizes. 

During the 2022 placements campaign, Anna University placement numbers have increased significantly. Distance Education

Anna University of Distance Education was founded in 2007. The institute provides three courses: MBA, MCA, and M.Sc in Computer Science. M.Sc admissions are merit-based, whereas MBA and MCA admissions are competitive. The Distance Education Entrance Test (DEET) is administered by the institute. Those who have a valid TANCET score will be excluded from taking this exam. Applications are only accepted in person. Distance Education Admissions

Admission to the M.Sc programme is based on merit, but admission to the MBA and MCA courses is dependent on the Distance Education Entrance Test (DEET) administered by Anna University CDE. Candidates with genuine TANCET results, on the other hand, will be excluded from DEET.

How to Apply?

Applications are only accepted offline. These are the steps given below: 

  1. Go to the Anna University CDE official website and download the application form, or get it from one of the study centres. 
  2. Take a print out of the registration form and fill it. 
  3. Attach the required documents to it. 
  4. Include a demand draft for INR 650 made out to “Director of the Anna University Distance Learning Centre.”
  5. Mail the package to:

Admission

Anna University admission will be based on national and state-level entrance exams. For admission to ME, MTech, MArch, and MPlan programs, the university has created a new entrance exam, the Common Engineering Entrance Test for Admission Postgraduate (CEETA PG). TANCET scores will be used to determine admission to MBA and MCA programs. TNEA will provide admission to B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch programs. Anna University PhD admission is based on candidates’ success in the University’s written test, which is followed by an interview. The Anna University Written Test is waived for UGC NET (including JRF)/ UGC CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET certified candidates and Teacher Fellowship holders. Such candidates must participate in the interview process. Anna University application forms for admission to various programmes are accessible on the Anna University website, annauniv.edu. Applicants must pay an application fee and provide all needed documentation when applying for admission.

Anna University UG Admission

At the undergraduate level, Anna University provides full-time BE/B.Tech and B.Arch programmes in a variety of fields. The minimum entry requirement is a 10+2 level test or equivalent in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

Anna University UG Eligibility

Candidates must have a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in a 10+2 level exam or equivalent, with PCM as a compulsory subject.

Anna University UG Application Process

  • Application forms for Anna University’s BE/B.Tech and B.Arch programmes can be filled out online by accessing the TNEA’s official portal, followed by document verification at TNEA Facilitation Centers (TFCs).
  • After paying the initial deposit of INR 500 (INR 250 for SC/ST/PH and INR 100 for special reservation category) by Credit/Debit Card/Net-Banking or through DD drawn in favour of ‘The Secretary, TNEA Admissions, Anna University payable at Chennai’, students can choose their desired institutions and programs.
  • The admission authority is the exclusive source of final seat allotment.

Anna University PG Admission 2023

At the postgraduate level, Anna University provides ME, M.Tech, M.Plan, M.Arch, MBA, MCA, and M.Sc degree programs. A bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university/institute is the basic eligibility condition for PG admission at Anna University. The admission exam will be administered by Anna University on behalf of the Tamil Nadu government. The Common Engineering Entrance Test for Admission (CEETA PG) will be used to determine admission to ME, M.Tech, M.Plan, and M.Arch programs. Candidates seeking admission to MBA and MCA programs must take the TANCET exam. M.Sc admissions will be granted based on a written test administered by the university.

TANCET scores are used to determine admission, which is followed by university-based counseling (TANCA). Candidates having a valid GATE score are also eligible to apply for MBA programmes. Anna University also provides M.Arch, M.Plan, MBA, and MCA (Regular+Lateral) degrees at the postgraduate level. The University provides full-time M.Sc. programs. A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% (45% for SC/ST) is required to apply. TANCET eligible candidates must attend a university-based counseling (TANCA) session to determine admission.

Anna University PG Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates with a BE/B.Tech in the relevant discipline with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PH) from a recognized institution OR a Diploma with an AMIE degree and two years of work experience are eligible to apply for PG programs such as ME, M.Tech, and M.Sc.
  • Those who finished their qualifying degree via distance or on weekends are ineligible to apply.
  • Anna University also accepts candidates from Government Aided Institutions/Government Organizations under the sponsored category. Such candidates must have at least five years of relevant job experience as well as a valid TANCET score.
  • Candidates for M.Arch admission must have a B.Arch in the relevant discipline with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PH) from a recognized university. Candidates who have passed the AIIA (Associateship Examination of the Indian Institute of Architects) are also eligible to apply.
  • Candidates for MBA admission must have a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% (45% for SC/ST/PH) from a recognized university.
  • A Bachelor’s degree with 50% (45% for SC/ST/PH) in Mathematics as one of the main courses at 10+2 or Graduation level from a recognized university is necessary for MCA. Candidates for MCA (Lateral Entry) admission must have a BCA or B.Sc (IT/CS) degree with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PH) and Mathematics as one of the primary topics at the 10+2 or Graduation level from a recognized university.
  • Candidates must have a B. Plan/ B. Arch/ B.E. (Civil Engg OR M.A. / M.Sc in Geography/ Economics/ Sociology/ Social Work with Community Development speciality and Rural Development with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PH) from a recognized university to be eligible for the M.Plan program. M.Phil., MS by Research & Ph.D. Admission 2023

The Centre for Research (CFR) offers MS by Research and PhD courses twice a year. M.Phil. programs are available at the postgraduate level in a variety of fields.

A Master’s degree in the same or a relevant subject of research is necessary for entrance to the M.Phil program. Candidates’ past academic records will be reviewed for admission to the M.Phil. program. Candidates with outstanding academic records will be chosen.

Applicants must have a Master’s degree or an M.Phil degree in the same or a comparable discipline. Candidates are chosen for the Ph.D. program based on their performance in the University’s written test, which is followed by an interview.

Admission to these programs is given based on candidates’ success in the University’s entrance exam. The Anna University Written Test is waived for UGC NET (including JRF)/ UGC CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET certified candidates and Teacher Fellowship holders.
