Indian Institute of Management Raipur, also known as IIM Raipur, is one of the prestigious management institutes in India. Established in 2010, it is the 10th Indian Institute of Management and is located in the state of Chhattisgarh.

History: IIM Raipur was set up by the Indian government as part of the initiative to expand quality management education in the country. It was envisioned to cater to the growing demand for skilled management professionals and to contribute to the development of the business and industrial landscape in the central region of India.

In the initial years, the institute operated from a temporary campus, and subsequently, it shifted to its new and permanent campus in Naya Raipur, which is the upcoming capital city of Chhattisgarh. Programmes Offered

Indian Institute of Management Raipur presently grants the MBA degree, just like the other IIMs. The following academic programs are available both full-time and part-time.

MBA or Postgraduate Program in Management
The two-year Post-Graduate Programme in Management is divided into six trimesters and includes a summer internship with a company. The first year is devoted to laying the groundwork for management’s several functional areas, including marketing, finance, operations, and human resources, among others. The student selects a major and a minor concentration for elective courses in the second year.

MBA or Executive Postgraduate Program in Management
Two years are spent on the Executive Post Graduate Program in Management, which consists of six terms & a mini-term that comprises a mini-dissertation and an integrated simulation project. The course will be delivered in a mixed format that combines required on-campus modules and live online classes. Advanced core courses in the functional areas of management are the focus of the first year. Depending on the student’s career/academic interests, the second year includes courses from all key functional areas to help them achieve their unique career goals.

Fellowship Program in Management
Beginning with the academic year of 2012–2013, the Indian Institute of Management Raipur launched the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM). FPM is a full-time doctoral program that gives research scholars the chance to pursue further education and do research in many “management”-related fields.

Graduate Management Program for Working Executives (PGPMWE)
The intensive one-and-a-half-year postgraduate program in management known as the Post Graduate Programme in Management for Working Executive (PGPMWE) is tailored specifically for mid/senior level professionals. Classes last 12 hours per week and are only held on the weekends.

Program for Executive Fellows in Management (EFPM)
A PhD program in management specifically created for working professionals with more than 10 years of experience in the industry is called the Executive Fellow Program in Management (EFPM).

Here is a general description of the admissions procedure, though:

Step 1: CAT (Common Admission Test) Examination

The first step in the admission process is to appear for the CAT examination conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) on a rotational basis.

CAT is a national-level entrance test held annually, usually in November or December, and assesses candidates’ aptitude in areas like Quantitative Ability (QA), Verbal Ability (VA), Data Interpretation (DI), and Logical Reasoning (LR).

Step 2: Writing Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) shortlisting

After the CAT results are announced, IIM Raipur shortlists candidates based on their CAT scores, past academic performance, and other criteria as determined by the institute.

Shortlisted candidates are invited for the next round, which typically includes a Written Ability Test (WAT) and a Personal Interview (PI). WAT evaluates candidates’ written communication skills, and PI assesses their personality, domain knowledge, and other aspects relevant to management education.

Cutoff 2023 – Qualifying CAT Percentile

For those aiming to join the Indian Institute of Management Raipur, it’s important to know that the final CAT cutoff for admission is typically higher than the qualifying cutoff. IIMs consider both sectional and overall cutoff percentiles for admissions. According to the official website, the overall CAT sectional cutoff for the General category at IIM Raipur is 94, while for the EWS category, it is 77. Scholarships and Funding

Full-time Research Scholars at the Indian Institute of Management Raipur receive financial support to cover all academic and related expenses.

Scholarship Details:

• 1st & 2nd Year: INR 30,000 per month
• 3rd & 4th Year: INR 40,000 per month

Important Points to Note:
1) During the 3rd year, scholars receive INR 35,000 per month after completing two years and clearing the Comprehensive Exam, whichever is later.
2) Upon registration, selected candidates must pay a refundable caution deposit of INR 30,000. This amount is returned after settling any outstanding dues upon leaving the Institute.
3) The insurance premium is deducted annually from the Contingency Grant.
4) The Contingency Grant covers expenses such as books, stationery, journal subscriptions, professional memberships, computer software, and thesis-related travel.
5) The Institute reserves the right to adjust or increase fees with prior notice.
6) Self-sponsored candidates interested in the full-time FPM program must pay fees applicable to the Executive Fellow Program in Management.
