The SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Examination (SRMJEEE 2024) is a prominent entrance exam in India for admission to undergraduate engineering and technology programs at SRM Institute of Science and Technology (formerly known as SRM University). SRM is a leading private institution in India renowned for its engineering education and research. To understand the significance and history of SRMJEEE, let’s delve into its origins and evolution.

SRMJEEE is an entrance examination conducted by SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) for admission to its various B.Tech programs offered across multiple campuses. It is a computer-based test designed to assess the knowledge and skills of students aspiring to pursue engineering education at SRMIST. The history of SRMJEEE can be traced back to the establishment of SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST). SRMIST was founded as SRM Engineering College in Kattankulathur, Tamil Nadu. It started as a small institution with a focus on engineering education. The institution achieved university status and was renamed SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST).

SRMIST expanded its educational offerings by introducing B.Tech programs in various engineering disciplines. With this expansion, the need for a standardized entrance examination became apparent. The first version of SRMJEEE was conducted to assess the academic aptitude and potential of students seeking admission to B.Tech programs at SRMIST. It was initially conducted in a paper-based format. SRMJEEE transitioned to a computer-based test format, allowing for efficient and secure conduct of the examination. SRMIST gained recognition and popularity as a premier private engineering institution in India, attracting students from across the country and abroad. The institution’s commitment to providing quality education and research opportunities contributed to the growing importance of SRMJEEE.

SRMJEEE continued to evolve, with changes in the examination pattern and the inclusion of new test centers to accommodate the increasing number of applicants. In response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, SRMJEEE adopted a remote proctored online examination format, ensuring the safety of candidates while maintaining the integrity of the test. SRMJEEE is a computer-based test that evaluates a candidate’s knowledge in the subjects of physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology, and English. The exam structure includes the following key components like, The test includes questions from physics, chemistry, and mathematics for most B.Tech programs. For B.Tech in Biotechnology and B.Tech in Biomedical Engineering, biology is included instead of mathematics.

SRMJEEE consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with each question having four answer choices. Candidates are required to select the correct answer. The examination typically spans 2.5 hours, during which candidates must answer questions from the specified subjects. Students will be awarded by plus one mark for each correct answer, and there is no negative marking for incorrect responses. Candidates are ranked based on their performance in SRMJEEE. The rank is a crucial factor in the admission process at SRMIST.

The SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Examination (SRMJEEE) has evolved over the years to become a significant milestone in the academic and professional journey of aspiring engineers and technologists. SRM Institute of Science and Technology’s commitment to excellence in education and research has contributed to the growing significance of SRMJEEE as a prestigious entrance examination in India.
