Eligibility Criteria for Admission

A candidate who has completed M.Phil. with a minimum of 55% or equivalent grade is eligible for admission even if his/her master’s degree marks are less than 55%, providing the individual was admitted to M.Phil. through an entrance examination. However, this condition is relaxed to 50% in case of:
a) Candidates from the SC/ST/Cat-I categories.
b) In-service applicants having at least five years of regular teaching experience as teachers/library professionals/physical education instructors/laboratory personnel in educational institutions.
- c) A candidate who received his or her master’s degree before September 19, 1991.2. The candidate must also take the Entrance Test administered by the University of Mysore. A candidate who receives at least 55 points out of 100 (50 points for SC/ST/Cat-I applicants) in the test is certified eligible and may apply for Ph.D. admission. The Entrance Test is waived for the following categories: Candidates who have qualified for UGC/ CSIR (JRF) Fellowships through UGC/CSIR NET Examinations/SLET/GATE.
• A candidate who has finished an M.Phil./equivalent course is exempt from the entrance exam if the M.Phil./equivalent course was obtained through an entrance examination. However, M.Phil. qualified applicants who enrolled in M.Phil. without taking an entrance exam are also eligible for admission between March 1, 2021 and February 28, 2022.
