The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Bombay), known as IIT Bombay or IIT Mumbai, is the first public university to receive support from UNESCO when it was founded in 1958. It was recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the Indian Parliament in 1961. It is self-governing and recognized as a “Deemed University.” IIT Bombay was placed third in the “Overall” and “Engineering” categories by NIRF in 2022. IIT Bombay is currently ranked 40 in Asia and 172 overall in the QS World Rankings 2023.
The 4-, 5-, and 2-year programs of IIT Bombay are well-known, and to be admitted to them, applicants must pass the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM), and Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Research Programmes
Ph.D.
While applications are accepted all year long for the Ph.D. program, they are only processed twice a year, during the autumn semester (July session) and the spring semester (January session).
One of the few universities in India, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Bombay) is able to award PMRF Fellowship to deserving Ph.D. students at the time of admission in this program. In addition to receiving an annual contingency grant of Rs 2 Lakh, PMRF fellows also receive a monthly stipend of Rs 70,000. The Institute will suggest a small number of individuals (with strong academic credentials and proven research potential) for PMRF after the candidate is accepted into our standard Ph.D. program. The discipline-specific Selection Committee must first provide its approval before the PMRF fellowship is officially awarded.

B-TECH
Admissions to the B.Tech. and Integrated B.Tech. programs at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Bombay) are determined by JEE Advanced exam results, followed by JoSAA counseling. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Bombay) offers a BTech degree in nine specializations, and an integrated BTech program has 12 courses available. The 10+2 exam with PCM is the minimal requirement for admission. Admission is made available to the candidates who meet the cutoff.
SELECTION CRITERIA
- Taking into account the results of the 12th grade test, the JEE Main and JEE Advanced merit lists will be created, detailing candidates’ All India Ranks (AIR).
- Candidates must register online at the official JOSSA website for JOSAA counseling. Choice locking and filling out are required and must be done by the candidate alone. It is necessary to fill in the branch options in decreasing order of preference.
M-TECH
Five categories, including A. Teaching Assistantship (TA), Teaching Assistantship through Project (TAP), and Fellowship Awardee (FA):

GATE 2023 exam results are used to determine admission to Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Bombay)’s M.Tech. and Integrated M.Tech. (MTech + PhD). Candidates having a minimum of 60% in their B.E. or B.Tech. are eligible to apply for the program.
SELECTION CRITERIA
- The candidate’s GATE performance will be taken into consideration when granting admission.
- Candidates with a B.Tech. from an IIT who also have a CGPA/ CPI score of 8.00 (on a scale of 10.0) or higher are excused from the requirement of having completed the GATE examination.
- Through a written exam and/or an interview, they may be admitted to the M.Tech program under the TA/RA roles.
- Candidates will be chosen based on a 70% weighted average of their GATE scores and a 30% weighted average of their interview.
- The central counseling board of CCMT will determine the cut off for each specialty.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with at least 60% (or 55% for candidates who fall under the SC, ST, or PWD categories) of the total possible points.
• Candidates who are enrolled in their final year of study as well as those who have finished their requirements and are awaiting results are both eligible to apply.
• CA/ICWA with a first-class Bachelor’s degree in any field and a minimum cumulative grade point average (CPI) of 6.5 or higher out of 10 or 60% overall (including all years/semesters) for all candidates (except those who fall under the SC/ST/PWD categories or those who received a 60%).
e-mba
The institute also provides an 18-month Executive MBA program under the heading of Management. Washington University and the program are mutually responsible for delivering the program. A candidate who holds a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field may apply for admission to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Bombay) EMBA program. The candidate will be chosen based on their performance on the previous qualifying exam.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The following requirements must be met by aspiring EMBAs in order to be considered for admission-
- A bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a higher education institution,
- seven years of work experience (after receiving the required degree), five of which must be managing experience;
- Solid command of both spoken and written English;
- Useful computing abilities,
- LOR from their company with a promise of employer support, or if they are self-employed and have the means to cover the necessary tuition and expenses;
- A satisfactory showing in a structured admissions interview that was centered on potential and experience in leadership and teamwork.
SELECTION CRITERIA

Undergraduate B.S. programs are offered full-time at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Bombay) for a four-year period. The program is available through three departments at the institute: chemistry, mathematics, and humanities & social sciences. B.S Eligibility Criteria
